When Jazmin Jones and her father purchased her grandfather’s machine shop from her mother in 2022 a dream began to manifest.

CCN Studios, a part of the Community Cultivation Network is situated comfortably on Lawndale in Houston in an area once dominated by industrial businesses. Jazmin Jones has turned her family’s once busy machine shop into a thriving business centered around creative story telling.

The Cinema Experience, curated in part by Morgan Banks of Strategically Social was hosted by CCN on November 20, 2024, as a two-part series that included a luncheon and the premiere of the short film “It Was All A Dream”. This event was centered around the power and the future of storytelling. I attended the luncheon that featured a panel of powerful storytellers and media experts with extensive knowledge on the topic, as well as a keynote address from founder, Jazmin Jones.

The Future of Marketing panel was moderated by Michael Carpenter, a real estate expert and podcaster and included television personality and real estate brokerage CEO Nicole Handy, media expert and community leader Centrell Reed, and Tech Fest Live founder Khalil Vinson. With such a diverse group of experts the panel discussion allowed the attendees to understand what position storytelling takes in marketing across an array of industries.

Nicole Handy who recently appeared on the OWN series “Family Empire” with her family remarked that long form video, on YouTube was one of the most underutilized platforms in recent years. The real estate expert mentioned that conversion (meaning turning views into sales) was most likely to happen in that space as opposed to in places where short form video is more prominent like Instagram and TikTok.

“YouTube is the most searched platform, owned by Google. The conversion rate is higher on YouTube because people are actually searching for your content and they’re engaged in the subject matter which helps to create the know, like, and trust factor which helps you establish yourself as an expert…” said Handy during the panel discussion.

The luncheon closed with Jazmin Jones sharing more of the history of CCN Studios which was once the machine shop started by her grandfather in the 1970’s. The Cinema Experience included a screening of Jazmin’s short film, telling the story of her journey to this very moment.

I asked Jazmin what inspired her to create a platform that was devoted to helping other creatives tell their stories and she told me “It’s very important to connect with your true self, and when I did that I realized that I always had someone pouring into me. That’s why I am who I am today and that’s what encouraged me to want to do that for other people.”

CCN Studios is located at 5510 Lawndale St. Houston, TX 77023 and offers a range of services that support creative story telling like podcast development, video recording, and event curation.
