I had the pleasure recently of attending a really dope pitch practice competition with my friend Amanda Sapp. One morning I woke up to a text from her about the event and so, I made it my business to attend.
I’m so glad I did! So many of Houston’s remarkable women were there sharing what they’ve been working on, Amanda included. Most people have seen her on Amazing 102.5 FM in the AM sharing the good word and inspiring people. Her tag line is “changing lives one listen at a time.” A powerful statement as you never know what lives you’re touching with the words you’re saying. Her pitch was on behalf of the organization she works for, she boldly and confidently asked for $100,000.00 to continue program development at Bread of Life, there’s a new program being developed focused on teens and helping them find direction.
There were a few other standouts that night focusing on mental health, but the winning pitch of the night was by far one of the most interesting inventions I have ever heard of. Bryanna Bender was in the room asking for feedback on her pitch for a digital doghouse. The house does all the work for you via app while you’re out of town or away from home.

Suites 4 sweet pets essentially removes the need for a boarding facility for your pets by allowing you to control food and water distribution as well as hosting a puppy pad style restroom for your animal and discarding the waste in a receptacle. Is that not the coolest thing you may have ever encountered?
According to Bender the prototype is currently being developed by engineering students at Texas A & M University and should be ready to show to potential investors and interested parties in the Spring.
